Re: [WCG] Africa Rainfall Project: November Update
Last post is cool sheet! Someone with some notoriety should post on the AnandTech / dc forum. This being more widespread should attract participants and shows value of DC!

Re: Cheap EPYC Rome 7742 and 7402 for sale.
Vendor locked these are going for a $1,000+ each, the nonES versions on several reseller sites. I don't know why, but they seem to be selling for this or more. Even advertised as locked to a vendor. I have not tracked what they go for locked to a a specific vendor though. The next round of workstati...

Re: Cheap EPYC Rome 7742 and 7402 for sale.
Best of luck Lukewarm! Even if they are vendor locked this is a good price and even if you need to sell you should get back what you have put into them in the near future. I think the board you are looking at is good as there are not many options and the additional external I.O. does not suck too ma...

Re: Spoiler Tags
These posts and hidden posts sound somewhat personal... :) I am in the process of mirroring an old HD to a slow (but fast!) ssd for my M0m. And backing up a daughter's laptop ssd to home storage before she goes off to college again.... She is rocking though and I don't want to have to buy another ss...

5950x stuff
I think this belongs here? I have been playing plenty with my new 5950x on an Asus Rog Strix b550-f wifi motherboard. CPU cooler is a 420 Arctic now with all brittle 3 fans working but at 580 RPM. CPU under various WCG tasks at about 4.5 Gighurts and 116 CPU power package and 60 C. Using CTR 2.1! I ...

Re: big coolers
I bought a 5 pack of arctic p140mm fans after buying the 420 arctic cooler. I like there wide speed zone from like 300 to 1800. Though they get louder quick above 1,000. I have tried extra fractal 14s that come with the cases and extra noctua fans that come on the h14 heatsinks and have bought black...

3-2021 Big Core Options under $2,000.
Sorry, I did not take the time on this forum to find this sub... I'm interested in learning about the best "low cost" bang for buck server level cpu's. From a bit of searching currently Epyc. Under $2,000 for all hardware. I'd like to stay air cooled with best bang for buck. Including CPU,...

Re: Cellarnoise2 - post 3 ....
Well I like the hidden factor for competitions. I don't like that there are not more controls in competitions. It should not be that hard to make sure that new participants can't jump into new teams at the last minute? Well maybe it is. I don't know how to prevent individuals from buying commercial ...

Cellarnoise2 is here? + Why the need for this forum?
I don't mind a new place to b.s., but there must be some issues over at the Anand forums for this to exist? Anyway, I have been getting back into geeky level of puters and I like the idea of health / cancer research. So I plan on adding puters slowly over time to the primarily health research end of...
